A comprehensive reconstruction of a critical 22-mile I-95 corridor including full pavement rehabilitation, bridge deck replacements at 14 crossings, new noise barrier systems, enhanced drainage, and intelligent traffic management infrastructure. Traffic maintained throughout via phased lane shifts.
The Challenge
Maintaining safe traffic flow on one of the Northeast's busiest interstate corridors throughout a 42-month construction programme while achieving the geometric and structural improvements mandated by the design standards.
Our Solution
A phased traffic management system with real-time variable message signs, coordinated with state police and CTDOT, allowed full reconstruction to proceed in 2-mile segments with guaranteed minimum two-lane operation in each direction at all times.
